SCI/FI MOVIES TO LOOK OUT FOR

SCIENCE FICTION MOVIES

1.      RAISED BY WOLVES

This is as far removed from reality as you can imagine. In this androids are tasked to bring up human children, to what end? Don’t ask me yet, better still don’t hold your breath thinking I may find out. Still, I do enjoy an odd flick now and then and yes I hope it will be entertaining.

So, shall we?

The start is intriguing albeit robotic, the turn of events was nothing that I had expected. For starters the name of the movie suggested that there would be real wolves, but no, they were androids that mimicked wolf sounds and evolved beyond thought. At the very least the robots and the flick in general had a sense of humor.

Can’t say that I really liked it but you be my guest.

2.      THE 100

This series went above and beyond my expectations. The fact that there was no visible character lead added to the excitement, wonder, intrigue and suspense. I loved that on here all bets were off. It was a masterpiece that I could get back to in the foreseeable future.

As the series progressed into its later series though, I was thoroughly disappointed when they added in technology in a non-imaginative way. It took the mystique out of it.

Still, it was quite something.

3.      LOST

This one, I can call the greatest of all time. Every character brought with them so much more and then Hugo brought much much more.

It will leave you at the edge of your sit throughout all its 4 seasons. Once in a while I leaf around to see if they’ve made anything like it again. It’s quite a unicorn in itself, kind of like “Prison Break”. Fantastic, can’t try and make another. You just leave it as a master piece.

The ending though…

4.      FOREVER

This one will leave you wondering, now what did I just see.

What was the point of all that, I for one kept waiting for a premise. Never found one and if it was there I missed it entirely. If you happen to check this out and get what it is about, please enlighten me.

I’ll say I put it here because despite my findings at the end, I did watch every last one of its episodes. Kind of like “second chance” another one that left me boggled.

Don’t let me keep you.

5.      COLONY

This is another one that left me wide eyed. Couldn’t go on past the first season but since it went on past season 3, then maybe there is something I missed but wouldn’t want you to miss out on a good sci/fi just because I couldn’t wrap my head around it.

Who knows, I can’t lie to you about it but for all I know it may be just down your alley.

6.      TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES

This one I truly loved, it could have gone on and on and I would keep watching.

Every character was in their A game but the one I loved most was Sarah Connor. I know the love of a mother is something out of this world but in the movie world this mother had love and capability to boost.

I can assure you, you will find it quite hard to find a flick mother like her in most if not all other movies.

A master piece of its time it was. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

7.      THE TOMORROW WAR

Sometimes we are so engulfed in the series world that we forget there are mind boggling movies out there. This is one of them and am glad I found it.

The cinema, character play, effects, are more than you can hope for they are just tremendously futuristic. I played from minute seven more than five times because now, that is a work of art. (Ever wondered why when you rewind a portion in a movie so much sometimes the nitty gritty of it get away from you, maybe the brain goes like “we still doing this, yeah! Am taking time out, will be right here when you done”)

Well, I won’t keep you from this master piece.

8.      INTO THE BADLANDS

This one started out normally as you would expect samurai movies to, though with an element that reminded me of “Hunger games” The first few seasons were incredible.

Then they introduced this dark theme that had everything go sideways.

Be the Judge.

9.      HUNGER GAMES

Now these movies were superb. I watched each as it came out and then had a marathon of them all after they were completed.

I know I will go back and do another marathon sometime in the foreseeable future.

They are just epic.

10.  MAZE RUNNERS

This is another set of movies that had me counting months to the next one.

Of course me being me, I set my family on a marathon with me for this one and the one above during the quarantine times. We had a blast for 2 consecutive days along with my then 11-year-old niece. Those were the days when bathroom breaks had to be timed so that we could all pause and get it where we left off.

Those were the times, will do it again. Great things need revisiting.

NB: PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE GREAT WATCHOFF.

Series Silver coast wolves #1

I gave it two stars  (2/5) because I still wanted to get to the end somehow.

I am no writer but as a reader I found a few lags in the story, there were also brilliant patches in it that felt like could have been prolonged.

Well, the character name repetition felt tiring to read, the book itself was not bad but the romantic scenes were just too pedestrian for me, the beautiful love the writer was building upon felt cheapened by the words used when it all came to culmination... made it feel like pornography at some point.

I still did finish the book though. That says something alright. I feel sad that I will not be reading the next.

So if you are planning on reading it, I would suggest you do and form your own opinion.

Happy reading.

Gave it a 3/5

Well, this went to the deep end first. Left me shaking in my boots, with every line, kept remembering my horror watching days that I had left waaay behind. You know the feeling you get when you see the object of your phobias like say a snake for me, the one where you jump all day after the fact when there is nothing there… yeah, this is that.

It started with fun and games, jokes that can have one laughing till they snort, but it was darker than  expected having read the previous two, and I for one don't do dark. Used to, in my spring chicken days… not anymore. Figured I got nothing to gain by scaring myself silly.

Anywho the author is a spectacular writer but am out.

As usual, one man’s meat…

So, there you have it.

Forward if you can

Happy reading.

It flowed better than the first one but made me understand the first one was setting a stage for this one.

The book is enthralling, having read it in half a day, the flow is smooth and on every step of the way, the questions you get along the way are answered.

The curses though ( I don't like them)

over all, the characters are mature, no lag in the story and it's a good read.

You could try it and form your own opinion.

Gave it a 3/5

This is my first work to read from this author, it was a surprise and packed a punch. Really liked it.

The characters came out in a way that left you wanting to read just a bit more to find out what was going on. I loved that though this was a romantic book, there was no aspect of the characters’ life that was overdone, everything was balanced. It also showed their thoughts separate from one another, (a book where we see both characters thoughts as a separate entity from one another and also when together as opposed to thoughts of one character describing the other) these are my favorite.

The reason for my rating even with the praise and all is because more of this book focused on the ones to come. This being a series, would have wanted to see more into the lives of this books characters as well as what was to come…maybe more pages would have sufficed.

All in all, loved it and will definitely read the ones after.

ALPHA'S TEMPTATION

                                                    ALPHA'S TEMPTATION

...of book reviews

No. 2

ALPHA'S TEMPTATION BY RENEE ROSE.

I gave it 2 stars because it started out well and with promise. The first few pages felt like something worth sinking teeth into.

Then came the explicit scenes that were brash at best for me. First they were inserted without preamble. They started getting to me when the girl started crying and within seconds they were kissing... kissing is not bad but the story had great potential, the characters had full lives that could have been explored better, their emotions were swept under the rag in favor of you know what. The story felt too rushed, like throwing in something in between before the next explicit scene. For me that did not connect well. I like to see character development and weight in which attraction brings romance and the rest.

Also, BDSM is a big no no for me. The swearing involved didn't appeal to me at all.

Overall, I'll just stop here. Was really psyched to read them all at once but no, am afraid this is not for me.

SHORTCAKE

 ...of book reviews.

#No 1

Shortcake by Lucy Watson

I enjoyed this book immensely.

Could tell this work was well thought out by the connections apparent from each chapter, getting the pieces together as as the book goes along, also, this author did her research and/or watched a bunch of movies too before writing.

Hard work is written all over this book and I love it, the story too. No lags in sight.

There is something I would have loved to see more of though, Ben's side of thought and emotions. It felt like Emelia was starring with Ben as her sidekick. We (I) never got to get thoughts from Ben alone like we did with Emelia who we even saw/read with friends and her thoughts were brought out more clearly. We only saw him through Emelia's eyes.

All in all its a good book, wouldn't be surprise if I came back a few years to reread...what's with trying to read half asleep.

Happy reading folks... might be well worth your while.

Oh, yeah! was the next book written in 2020 or... if yes please someone drop the title here. Thanks.

HANNA

Have I told you about Hanna the series? Here is another one that I could go out of breath gushing about. I have seen season 1 and it...
