BRIDGERTON

 BRIDGERTON

NB: No spoilers.

This one I didn't see coming. After passing it over a few times thinking it was just another run in the mill historical series. Not that I hate historical series or anything, was just having a time out with them.

It's a good thing that I decided to take a peek, and my, what a peek,I took it all the way to the end.Fancy taking a peek eight hours long, I know right.Well lets get down to it...Shonda just blew me away, again, after greys and you know the rest. But this one,she just knocked the ball right out of the park.

First things first,am mighty thankful that I wasn't born in that era because if I were...let's just say am glad. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's get back to the matter at hand.I know that in reality what happens in bridgerton might have actually been impossible in those times but then again..I was not there and neither were you...Okay fine. I know you will tell me that there is history to prove this and that and the other but hey okay there was alright but is it a hundred percent of everything that happened back then or is it a scenario where someone goes to another country..say India for example, finds natives and years later you hear so and so discovered mount whatever the name. How profound.I'll leave that for you to answer, no need to get into the nitty gritties.

Yes,talk about veering off the topic. This exquisite piece just left me thirsting for more.I for one am glad that second season is underway and then some. This is a production like no other in it's time. The diversity in it is just plain refreshing...let's not dwell on that.If you are a sucker for tales, fairy tale endings,romance...just plain old love conquers all.Look no further...this will leave you eating all the popcorn in your bowl and then pretty much dunking your hand back in there severally after the fact.We are talking no sleep from start to finish.

By the way when I say love conquers all I mean literally, having watched the first series and read the second book, "If you are not a reader, this might make one out of you yet"i've witnessed love literally curing trauma, if only, that would be mighty nice.Yes the movie is far more than you can imagine, the book is really, really, really good too, just read the one as of yet but I seriously do not like the amount of blaspheming in it...honestly i'll try the third but if the blaspheming is as much...I shall stick to waiting for the movies like a good little soldier.

I will have to stop here before I start spoiling by dissecting even further,I believe if you decide to venture into it,you will not regret it.

Such a breath of fresh air.

Navasha,Kenya.Kongoni Lodge

Very good food. Quite private,a bit removed from the touristy areas in Naivasha.

You want good food, go the ala carte way.

This is one of the places that are serene at Naivasha,a bit far removed from the town by 33.7 kilometres.
Don't let that stop you though, the best time to go there is early morning since at that time you get to see wild animals if you use the south lake road. You get to pass right in the middle of Hells Gate national Park between olkaria or kengen and Ndabibi.

The name kongoni is a Kiswahili name for Harte beast, these are there in plenty along with monkeys, warthogs and giraffes. These you get to see enroute.

So, my experience...
The food I most liked was each meal that was ala carte because it gave me the feel of home and each it was presented in detail. For this type, be prepared to wait but it will be worth your while.I did not quite like the buffet there because for me the food lacked individuality. It was good yes but i guesse we can say i was spoilt rotten by their ala carte.

There is a swimming pool,if you dont mind the cold ( to be fair really don't like feeling cold even a little bit) ,cold here is relative.I loved the scenary.

All in all,it was good enough for me to put it back on my bucket list for later.

It's quite enough, unfortunately or fortunately...mobile network is still active here.Good place for readers and for people who genuinely want to get away.

Cairo Hotel in Turkana County (Kakuma)

I would say that it's one of the best hotels in Kakuma if not the best as of now. They have a broad menu that offers more than one can imagine for its location.

The service is good and the look/ scenery inside is a sight for sore eyes. Here the grass is green and they’ve planted some nice little trees that add to the beauty of the place If you are looking for a place that you will not have to jump every time the sheet touches you or shake your shoes severally before putting them on, you can consider this place, the rooms are barricaded(Windows are meshed and the doors also have a barrier) from the insects (spiders, snakes & Scorpions) which you will find in plenty outside of the premises. Point to note: if it’s your first time coming to Turkana, be well advised to carry airy clothes because the heat here packs a punch.

Hells Gate National Park

This park is a beau, during the day...

My full experience... So we arrived there one morning paid for everything and visited Olkaria, the springs (they say the water there makes your skin soft and smooth), this may have been true for others but I itched like there was no tomorrow(I got to discover places that could itch on my body that I never knew would) Anyway the real experience was yet to come, we were camping inside the park that night (I was yet to see a clip that was going round of a woman camped at the park saying shoo to a lion). So, I had confidence in the experience yet,and I had seen the guards tent on-site (or so I thought) Evening came, the guards tent turned out to be another camper (big deal, right), we set a camp fire ( there are demarcated places) and started roasting meat, you know, that’s when the hyenas started laughing at us ( the sounds they make),we were able to eat without any problems ( by the way if you are a woman, make sure to walk with a man in tow, especially during the day because of the Baboons- that’s a story for another day).At around midnight guards came on patrol, they looked as if they were looking for something, when we asked they told us it was just a routine check (am old enough now to know that nothing is ever routine if it seems odd). Well so we all went to sleep, you know we’d been told the dangerous animals are rarely seen.So in the middle of the night my husband (then boyfriend) insisted on walking all the way to where the bathroom blocks were ( you know how it is in this stage of relationships) despite the fact that I had asked him to consider opening the tent an inch or so and directing it somewhere. And so he went,in a few minutes someone jumped in my tent with a speed that could be admirable at the olympics. He came in with the shakes the likes I may never see again. So the man was holding me and telling me if he was to die,at least we would be next to one another.Me being a therapist then ( amid the panic) took him through deep breathing at least, then he told me of the animal that he had seen that had gone directly for him the moment he was out of the tent and at considerable speed (until today we’ve never known what kind it was and I wouldn’t care to now either). Then my panic kicked in,I had to clamp down on my teeth to stop myself from joining in the trembling because a trembling competition wouldn’t have changed anything. So I decided to just be calm since it would also calm my man. Then I prayed & prayed and asked God if He allowed us see the morning then I would never do that again. Morning came and our tent looked like it had been rained on from the inside (full of moisture), it was even dripping from the side ( from our breathing) To cut the long story short, that’s how the two day camping experience was turned into one and we moved out of the park to go camp elsewhere. Enjoy your camping experience.

HANNA

Have I told you about Hanna the series? Here is another one that I could go out of breath gushing about. I have seen season 1 and it...
